Santa Carolina Estrellas Carmenere

£6.49 per 75cl, Full bodied and concentrated wine, bursting with blackcurrant fruit flavours, cassis and hints of cedar wood on the long velvety finish. This wine is a good match with tomato based pasta sauces, especially Bolognese and red meat dishes. The grapes were grown in Chiles Rapel Valley, an area with a long tradition of winemaking. The region has the perfect weather for growing grapes with clearly defined seasons with cool, rainy winters and long warm summers with high daytime temperatures, moderately by cool nights. This allows the grapes to slowly ripen and develop complex flavours. Santa Carolina has been a pioneer of Chilean wine since 1875 when Luis Pereyra Cotapos founded the winery, which he named after his wife.
