£8.45 per kg, Chestnut mushrooms have a mild nutty earthy taste and firm texture. Caps may show a soft white bloom and creamy stalks which are natural charateristics of chestnut mushrooms. Our mushrooms are grown indoor in compost in tunnels in bags or shelving. All our growers are members of the Red Tractor Assurance Scheme to provide full quality assurance. Hughes Mushrooms are a family run business with over 50 years experience in the mushroom industry. We pride ourselves on product quality. Hughes Mushrooms are committed to environmental sustainabilty recently being awared the Waitrose Way Threading Lightly and Green Apple Environmental awards.Every care is taken to remove excess peat from our mushrooms by the trained pickers on our farms. However, due to the nature and size of button mushrooms and the fact that they are picked so close to the surface, it is possible that you may on occasions find some excess peat. Simply wash and prepare as normal.
