Santa Carolina Reserva Syrah
£11.99 per 75cl, Silky smooth, full bodied wine with juicy plum and blueberry fruit flavours, chocolate, pepper and cassis notes on the long finish. This wine suits roasted pork, spicy dishes and tomato based pasta sauces. The grapes were grown in the La Rinconada vineyards in the Rapel Valley, close to the Cachapoal River which has wet short winters and long sunny summers. Temperatures vary greatly from warm days to cool nights which allow the grapes to ripen slowly to maintain natural acidity and develop complex flavours. The wine was then aged for 8 months in French and American oak barrels before being bottled. Santa Carolina has been a pioneer of Chilean wine since 1875 when Luis Pereyra Cotapos founded the winery, which he named after his wife. This wine will age well for another 3 years.
